Storytelling and Gaming 1 - Starting out

This week we began our Storytelling and Gaming module which is very exciting. We have begun by doing some workshops using AR. We imported a 3D model into Unity and coded some animations to push buttons that when tested in live made the character jump and slide on the platform we were holding.

In our lesson with Mikayla we learnt some narrative theory which was a refresher since learning this sort of stuff in A levels. For example we learnt about Freytag's Pyramid involving Rising/falling action and the climax.

We also learnt some of the different methods used to create interactive narratives. This includes augmented reality, alternate reality, virtual reality. We also were reminded of all of the different generations of gaming and we were also shown the evolution of certain game franchises such as Zelda, Super Mario, Megami Tensai etc.

Then Mikayla informed us that our final project had to be AR related which we weren't in love with the idea of. So I will begin to think about some AR projects I could relate to narrative.
