Storytelling and Gaming 8 - Other Twine projects

I felt it necessary to research what other Twine projects people had made, so I found a website called itch.io where people upload and host a variety of games, projects, assets etc. What I was not prepared for, however, was just how much ambitious and and spectacular some people's Twine stories are. Many of them have mastered the simple-to-use software and using JavaScript and other coding tools they have created very elaborate games that are so complex, they are unrecognisable as simple Twine games. Whilst I would love to create something as big as one of these projects, at this point in the module I feel it would be too large in scope. I would rather create something a bit easier to make whilst still delivering a quality narrative. After all, the focus is on the narrative for this module rather than the game itself. Perhaps if I were to do a similar project again, I would dedicate a lot more time and resources to creating a really elaborate Twine game of my own, but for now I shall keep it rather simple.

With that being said, here are a few examples of Twine games that I enjoyed trying out:

Pup in the Park by DesireLines
I was really impressed by the wealth of options for customisation that this game offers. The player can determine what their name is, their sex, their height etc. which will be represented in the story itself. This must have taken so many wireframes and a great deal of planning within the software to get it all working.

The Temple of No
This is such a well-written adventure and I love the sense of humour. I like that you can click the underlined portions in the text that will display multiple messages that break the fourth wall. I don't think I'd attempt this in my own story as mine will probably be a little more serious and straight-forward, but I still find it really enjoyable. Also the illustrations are awesome.

Superstition S2
Much like Pup in the Park, Superstition has a lot of options for romantic interests, combat preference and other such options. I would love to one day make a game as scoped out as these.
